15 DAYS CYCLING ADVENTURE TOUR LUANG PRABANG – HANOI CROSS BORDER

Laos is landlocked by its neighbors Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, China and Vietnam. The mighty Mekong River runs the entire length of the country, providing fishing, irrigation and fertile farmland along the delta. Its population of 6 million people is distributed through modern towns, rural villages and isolated, ethnic, mountain tribes. 
 
The deeply entrenched Buddhist culture touches every part of life, making encounters with the Lao people one of friendship and warm welcomes. Temples, pagodas and stupas dot the country, with glints of golden rooftops visible as the sun rises over the mountains and the early morning almsgiving ceremonies see the towns flooded with saffronrobed monks. 
 
The Mekong River and its many tributaries are integral to the Lao way of life. They provide water for laundry, cooking, washing, playing, fishing, travelling and irrigation. Easily accessible with direct flights daily, Luang Prabang and the natural beauty of the Seuang River Valley, create the perfect setting for community service groups.
 
We will cycle on hilly road and admire mysterious plain of Jars. Cycling on scenic road and rustic villages to Muang Kham and  Vieng Xai to visit and learn bout the history of Phathet Laos. These huge caves were home to around twenty thousand Pathet Lao communist fighters during the secret war of Laos. This war, termed secret because the US was not supposed to be engaged in combat in neutral Laos, was all part of the larger geo-political events and changes of the sixties and seventies. While the communist forces were being bombarded from the air by the CIA funded Hmong Army, they used these caves as a refuge, complete with hospital, school and underground villages. we will say good bye our Laos’ Crew, check in Vietnam Border again and cycle to Phu Luong and Cuc Phuongnational Park.

Day 1: Luang prabang Arrival:
Warmly welcome to Luang prabang – the former Capital of Laos – the lands of Thousand elephants.
Our crew will met and picked you up to hotel for 15 Days Luang prabang – Hanoi Bicycle trip. Do check in hotel in early afternoon.
If we have time, we will spend the afternoon with the cycle tour to visit the highlights of Luang Prabang including a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts from the Royal period in Luang Prabang. Cycling on, we are seeing the city’s oldest temples, the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roof sweeping low to the ground, representing classical Lao architecture, the impressive stupa of WatVisoun and the shrine of WatAham. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 2:  Khuang Si waterfalls cycling
An easy ride to the scenic Khuang Si Waterfalls along ethnic villages such as Hmong and Khmu. At the falls, crystal water cascades into idyllic turquoise pools. Please bring a bathing suit if you would like to swim! Also take time to visit the nearby Sunbear Refuge to learn more about the poaching of these endangered creatures.

Day 3: Luang Prabang -  Phoukhoun
Having hearty breakfast in hotel, leaving the former capital behind, our shuttle bus take transfer two hours to Kiu Ka Cham.  Upon arriving of cycling point, we commence our new cycling day by conquer incredible pass, through very scenic mountain landscape and authentic  hilltribe  villages, we are cycling on an altitude between 1000 and 1400 metres altitude.

Day 4: Phoukhoun -  Phonsavan
Breakfast in guesthouse with hot coffee and gingger tea. We  make warmly up our new cycling day from Hotel, gear up our bike to summit. Cycling on slope of mountain, admire brilliant scenic beauty with rugged mountain  ranges and picturesque landscape.
The total distance to Phonsavan is 130 kilometers. The first half of this stretch is mountainous. The second half is almost flat after arriving on the plain on an altitude of 1100 meters. This day, we are flexible which part of the day we will do on the bicycle.

Day 5: Phonsavan -  Plain of the Jar
The Plain Of Jars is probably South East Asia’s most enigmatic tourist attraction. There are hundreds of huge stone jars scattered across several square miles. While most ancient Asian sites, such as the Angkor temples in Cambodia, have revealed many of their secrets, historians are still completely baffled as to where the jars came from, how old they are and what they signify. They are, in short, jars of a deeply spooky nature. We will visit the 2 most interesting sites by bicycle.

Day 6: Phonsavan -  Muang Kham
Today, we will have an easy ride on a mainly flat road over the high plains to Muang Kham. Through the high altitude, we will see huge pine trees, which is very unusual for the rest of Laos.

Day 7: Muang Kham – Nam Nuem
After breakfast at the local restaurant we cycle through the hill tribe villages and high mountains, there are many big climbs, lunch will be brought from the town we stay last night and we stop by the road when we hungry.

Day 8Nam Neum  -  Sam Neua
After filling up energy for new cycling day from hotel, we set off our way  to challenge steep pass from Hotel. Gear up our bike on slope  then cycle undulating on scenic route, pasing through thick forest between 1400 and 1600 metres. On the way, we visit Saleuy Waterfall and for a refreshing dive. After a long descent, we arrive in Sam Neua.

Day 9: Sam Neua -  Vieng Xai – Na Meo ( Good bye Laos Hello Vietnam)
In the morning, we are cycling through a nice landscape to Vieng Xai, famous  for its caves. These huge caves were home to around twenty thousand Pathet Lao communist fighters during the secret war of Laos. This war, termed secret because the US was not supposed to be engaged in combat in neutral Laos, was all part of the larger geo-political events and changes of the sixties and seventies. While the communist forces were being bombarded from the air by the CIA funded Hmong Army, they used these caves as a refuge, complete with hospital, school and underground villages.
We continue out trip through a narrow valley, we are driving to the border, where you say goodbye to your Lao support team. Our private Vietnamese driver will be waiting to transfer you to  Quan Son Town. Stay overnight in Quan Son Township.

Day 10: Quan Son – Dong Tam – Pu Luong
Have hearty brerakfast in Hotel, we commence our new cycling day from hotel, cycle 10 km on undulating route before ascendingly ride 4 km steep pass on slope. Tea and coffee will be available for us onthe to. After refueling energy, we roll down 25 km on sealed road, along the river and hillside to contemplate breathtaking scenery and lush bamboo forest. Upon arriving in Dong Tam Town, we have picnic lunch in local coffee shop. After refreshment, we continue cycling ascendingly through Phu Luong Nature Rerserve to Ecohomestay.Have dinner and stay overnight in Phu Luong.

Day 11:  Don Village  – Pho Doan – Cam Luong – Cuc Phuong
After breakfast in Ecogarden, Say good bye them, we start early  to ride back road  to Pho Doan, the township of Phu Luong Narture Reserve, if lucky, we can visit and take photo  at colourful tribal market before crossing the bridge , we ride on corridor path of Nature Reserver , through sugarcane fields, corn farm dotted with Thai and Muong Tribes villages led to Cam Luong, we are rewarded by spectacular scenery, meeting friendly local  villagers. We reach to Ho Chi Minh Trail at noon. Lunchmeal at local restaurant  in Kim Tan town, Afterlunch, we continue to ride 45 km more on a mix  of good single track and undulating paths . The view are stunning as the rider passes  through villages and across rice paddies, sugerccane and cassava farms . Arriving in Cuc Phuong National Park at late afternoon,  check in and take a rest  until dinner times. Accommodation  at Cuc Phuong  Resort

Day 12: Cuc Phuong National Park – Tam Coc.
After breakfast, our minibus take us into the depth of forest. From the center of the Park, we will cycle along canopied forest trails and through primitive jungle – an exclusive, tourist – free route, all the way to  the gate of National park. Stop for refreshment, then we visit the Endangered primate Rescure Center. The day’s cycling continues onto Dong Giao – pineapple plantation where you can enjoy fresh pineapple from local farmers selling on sideroad. We ride out of plantation to Tamdiep Township, transfer to Tam Coc for Lunch. After lunch, take two hours boat trip for exploring three grotto the first, the second and the third grotto links together with breaktaking scenery in open air. Then we ride through breaktaking natural beauty of Trang AN,

Day 13: Tam Coc – Halong Bay
Early this morning, we’ll drive from Tam Coc to one of the most magnificent scenic environments in the world, Halong Bay. Covering 577 square miles, this vast bay is filled with more than 3,000 limestone “peaks” or karsts that jut from the deep blue water as far as the eye can see. We’ll spend a day and a half, including an overnight with dinner and breakfast onboard, exploring this overwhelming seascape from the decks of a traditional Vietnamese boat. Comfortable and intimate, your boat features hand-crafted wooden interiors including a dining room and pleasant air-conditioned cabins with private baths. Since we’re overnight on the water, we’ll be able to explore Ha Long Bay’s most beautiful spots with time to swim and even visit some of the largest rock formations and caves. Day 14: Halong – Hanoi.
Rising to the sound of lapping bay waters, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. Sitting on the upper deck, you can relax while taking in the breath-taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the emerald water of the bay.
After breakfast, explore Sung Sot cave, swim and relax. Cruises back to the jetty while brunch is served while you are cruising through the bay, along the way seeing more of the fascinating formations. Cruise check-out. Rejoin car drive to Hanoi. Stop on midway for refresment. We continue our way to Hanoi city. Upon arrival. Do check in and have relax.

Day 15: Hanoi city Toursand Departure
After hearty breakfast in hotel, our guide and supported bus meet you at 7:30 Am at lobby and commence to explore Hanoi city and visit some welknown historical relics such such Hochiminh’s Mausoleum , his Former Stilt-house Residence, the Presidential Palace and One Pillar Pagoda. Keep going to see the  Temple of Literature: Originally built as  a  temple  to  Confucius,  this  is  the  site  of  Vietnam's  first  university dating  back  to  1070.  The  temple  highlights  the  importance  that Vietnamese society placed then and   now on education.  We will visit one of the  most interesting museums in Vietnam,  Museum of Ethnology, which is widely acknowledged as the best in the country and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam's 54 Ethnic minority people. Have lunch in Local restaurant. After lunch,  discover 36 ancient street and Dong Xuan market. Come back to hotel for taking shower  and relax.  we will have chance to enjoy the  unique  Water  Puppet  show  to  hear  to  know  Vietnamese  traditional  instruments  and singing from the live musicians who play throughout the show.
